Chicagoland Soccer teams
well regarded in postseason seeding
Chicagoland Soccer teams held the no. 1 seed in five of seven sectionals where they were represented in the state tournament rankings that were released by the IHSA on Thursday afternoon.
In addition, Crystal Lake South and St. Francis were recognized as top seeds in their respective subsectionals
Chicagoland Soccer teams made the biggest splash in the Wheaton Academy Sectional, where they hold the top eight spots. Schaumburg held the top spot followed in order by: Glenbard North; St. Charles North; Wheaton Academy; St. Charles East; Bartlett; Addison Trail and Lake Park. Willowbrook (10), Wheaton Warrenville South (11), Wheaton North (15) and Elk Grove (17) rounded out the group. Addison Trail, Bartlett, Conant and Lake Park will host regionals in the 19-team sectional.
Naperville North and Plainfield North ranked 1-2 respectively in the Metea Valley Sectional. Metea Valley (5), Batavia (6), Naperville Central (8), Plainfield South (10), Marmion (11) and Waubonsie Valley (14) complete the Chicagoland Soccer teams in the 18-team group.
Naperville Central, Naperville North, Waubonsie Valley and Bolingbrook will host regionals.
Defending state champion Hinsdale Central tops the Riverside-Brookfield Sectional. The Red Devils are followed by Lyons (3), Downers Grove South (4), Oak Park and River Forest (5), Downers Grove North (7), and St. Ignatius (9).
Lyons, St. Ignatius, Argo and Hinsdale South will host regionals for the 19-school group.
Warren sits atop the 19-team Stevenson Sectional. Barrington ranks no. 2 followed by Deerfield (5), Buffalo Grove (6), Saint Viator (12), Fremd (14) and Hersey (16).
Fremd, Mundelein, Highland Park and Grayslake North will serve as regional sites.
In the Glenbrook North Sectional, the hosts are the top Chicagoland Soccer seed at no. 4. The Spartans are followed by Leyden (6), Prospect (10) and Lane (14). Evanston sits at the head of group.

Crystal Lake South top subsectional A in the Huntley group. Streamwood, which finished fourth in state last year, is seeded sixth-of-nine teams. Jacobs and DeKalb will host the regionals.
In Class 2A, Benet is the only Chicagoland Soccer team at the 20-team Glenbard South Sectional, where it holds the no. 1 seed. Solorio, Nazareth, St. Joseph and St. Laurence are the regional hosts.
At Hampshire, St. Francis holds sway in subsectional B. The Spartans will host a sectional as will Hampshire for their group's nine teams.
