4 Chicagoland Soccer teams hit
the road for Adidas tournament in May
Batavia, Lockport, Metea Valley and St. Charles North will head west to compete in the 9th annual Adidas Tournament of Champions on May 1-2 in Burlington, Ia.
Lockport will compete in the North-South Challenge bracket that includes five Illinois teams.
Batavia, Metea Valley and St. Charles North will compete in the 8-team Greater Burlington Bracket.
Batavia had the toughest draw of the CS participants. The Bulldogs meet Centennial (Ankeny, Ia.), ranked No. 31 in the U.S., in the first round and could face No. 16 Collinsville if both advance.
Metea Valley and 43rd-ranked St. Charles North could meet in the semifinals of the bracket if they each win their opening games.
Batavia won the title at the tournament last year. St. Charles North won championships in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
Each Chicagoland Soccer participant in the tournament has a winning career record at the Burlington event.
Additional Illinois participants in the 42-team field include: Belleville East; Belleville West; Collinsville; Decatur Lutheran; Dunlap; Granite City; Homewood-Flossmoor; Lemont; Macomb; Manteno; Moline; Pekin; Peoria Christian; Notre Dame (Peoria); and Springfield.
