This is a rematch of the 2019 sectional final which Joliet Catholic won 2-1. Lemont (14-2-1) looks to take its eighth sectional title and return to the state finals for the seventh time.
Leading the way on offense for coach Rick Prangen's Indians are freshman forward Emma Amberg (15 goals, 8 assists), senior midfielder Tori Silvar (9, 4) and sophomore forward Suzie Knutte (7, 7).
Lemont’s defensive leaders include senior defender Trinity Hatton, senior defensive midfielder Maddie Counsil (2, 3) and sophomore defender/midfielder Paige Bingen (1, 2).
After starting its season with two losses to Class 3A teams, the Indians have gone 14-0-1 with 12 shutouts and allowed just five goals. They currently own a nine-match winning streak.
Joliet Catholic (13-1-1) made its first state finals appearance in 2019 and left with fourth place honors.
The Angels only loss this season was a 4-1 defeat to Class 3A top-seed Benet on May 17.
Three of the top scorers on coach Oscar Valdez's squad are seniors who were also on the state team in 2019. They are Morgan Furmaniak, Aliana Wildernradt and Kendall McLeod.
"JCA is a dynamic offensive team with some very special players," Prangen said. "Their midfield is highly organized, skilled and creative. I am very impressed with how they play and the speed in which they attack in numbers.
"In order for us to have a positive result, we will have to stay very organized, retain possession of the ball and execute on set pieces."
The winner of the Lemont Sectional meets (1) Dunlap or (3) Notre Dame (Peoria) in the Mendota Supersectional at 6 p.m. Monday.
