in Catholic League Blue tilt

Loyola is in the midst of a solid 2019 season, standing at 10-4-2 overall (2-2-1 in Chicago Catholic League Blue Division play) after netting a 5-0 win over Mansueto in nonconference action on Oct. 5.
But the Ramblers will face one of their toughest tests of the campaign when Mount Carmel visits the school's Munz Athletic Campus in Glenview for a conference showdown at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Caravan (12-2-1 overall) sit atop the Blue Division standings with a perfect 4-0-0 mark and taken a giant leap to no. 3 in the Chicagoland Soccer Top 25.
An upset over red hot Mount Carmel could launch Loyola higher in the rankings.
Mount Carmel's latest accomplishment is a three-game sweep to claim the championship of the Go 4 The Goal Fall Classic, held in Burlington, Iowa Oct. 3-5. The Caravan nabbed the tournament crown with a 2-0 win over nationally ranked Marquette (Milwaukee) on Oct. 5 -- and also defeated no. 4 Naperville North 1-0 on Oct. 4 and Bishop Miege (Kansas) by a 5-2 count a day prior en route to the title tilt.
No. 24 Loyola, led by head coach Baer Fisher, suffered a loss to Brother Rice in conference play on Oct. 3 in a match that was decided on penalty kicks after the two teams battled to a 2-2 tie through overtime.
A somewhat similar scenario unfolded when the Ramblers faced St. Ignatius on Oct. 1. With the score tied at 1-1 following 80 minutes of play, and still knotted by the same score following two 5-minute overtime sessions, each team went 3-for-5 on PK tries and per league rules the match was declared a draw.
Other recent results for Loyola include a 4-1 win over Hononegah in nonconference action on Sept. 28 and a 4-1 win over DePaul in cross-over play on Sept. 26.
Following the match with Mount Carmel, Loyola will conclude the regular season with a nonconference home game against Montini at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 10 and a league affair on the road against Fenwick at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 15.
The Ramblers will then face Glenbrook North in the IHSA Class 3A Niles North Regional at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 22 to begin postseason play. Mount Carmel will compete in the semifinals of the Class 3A Sandburg Regional against either Crete-Monee or the host Eagles at 4:30 p.m. the same day.
