Lindsey Novak (2 goals, assist), Amy Chiero (2 assists), Maddie Weltin (assist), Kendall Crackel, and Maia Zatarski tallied after the break. Summer Garcia opened the scoring on a header. Sophia Heatley and Sarah Liljestrand added assists. Keepers Lisa Stranski and Zoe Romano split the shutout for the no. 32 Rams (1-0-0), who host Lincoln-Way Central at 6 p.m. Thursday in round two.

Malori Killoren got the host Warriors (1-0-0) off to a fast start when she took a pass from freshman Katie Morgan and weaved through the Sequoit defense to score in the 2nd minute. The junior added her 36th-career varsity goal seven minutes later when she finished off a sequence of five, two-touch passes on a give-and-go with Mallory Sawyer. Killoren provided the assist for Marissa Hyland in the 34th minute for a 3-0 halftime lead. Twelve minutes into the second half, freshman Holly Deutsch beat her defender and whipped in a cross that Hyland finished at the back post. Carolyn Curley made two saves to record the shutout for Deerfield.

The upset-minded Blue Devils (0-0-1), who are ranked 49th in the state in Chicagoland Soccer's First 50 preseason poll, led in the first half after a goal from Elizabeth Weinberg off a Courtney Chomko assist. Emma Weaver brought fourth-ranked New Trier (0-0-1) back for the draw with a breakaway goal after the break. Warren goalkeeper Alana Turner made six saves.
