The Warriors escaped the snow-covered North Shore to travel to Antioch for their opening game and came away with a 3-0 victory. Malori Killoren led the way on offense with a hat-trick. The sophomore opened the scoring in the 5th minute when she picked up a loose ball and curled a shot inside the far post from 20 yards. The Warriors extended the lead when Haley Emory drove down the right wing and slotted a perfect cross for Killoren in the 16th minute. Killoren completed her hat trick on another fine cross from Emory 7 seconds before halftime. With a strong wind at their backs, the Sequoits had a few more chances in the second half, but Karley Morris made a strong diving save off a free kick with 13:40 remaining and immediately smothered the rebound to cancel out Antioch’s best opportunity. Antioch’s star keeper Monica Wilhelm made six saves including excellent stops on Julia Neal and Chloe Cappas breakaways.
St. Charles North 8, West Chicago 0
Gia Wahlberg had a whale of a season opener with a hat-trick and three assists as the third-ranked North Stars scored three times in the first 13 minutes to commandeer the game. Hailey Rydberg added a goal and two assists. Chloe Netzel, Sarah Andrey, Claudia Najera and Bella Falco contributed goals, and Cassidy Joyce chipped in with an assist.
