Jude Barton gave himself a birthday present in the form of his first varsity goal in the fourth minute, and Evan Eckert closed the scoring with a PK after Nasr was fouled in the box in the 50th. Keeper Declan Finnegan made five saves in the win in the Warriors divisional opener. Wheaton Academy (3-1-1, 1-0-0) plays its third match in three days against Bishop McNamara at noon Saturday at home.

After a scoreless first half, Hans Haenicke scored in the 66th minute off a Preston Wray assist for the road win for Benet, which is ranked fourth in the Chicagoland Soccer Top 25. Keepers Evan Lucas (no saves in first half) and Nolan Hart (three saves in second half) split the shutout. The Redwings (2-1-0) put five of their seven shots on goal. The winners travel to meet Joliet Academy for their East Suburban Catholic Conference opener at 9 a.m. Saturday. No. 18 Naperville Central fell to 2-1-2 with the loss.
