Roundup (Monday, March 21)
Girls Catholic Athletic Conference Red Division
Fenwick 10, Trinity 0
The no. 25 Friars started their 2022 campaign in dominating fashion in front of a large Priory crowd. Sophomore midfielder Caroline Henige led the hosts with a hat-trick. Freshman midfielder Kiera Mullarkey added a goal and an assist in her varsity debut. Seniors Natalie Larucci, Julia Cianci, captain Kate Henige, Natalie LoGuidice and Brynn Eulgen added goals. Sophomore Jillian Pavalon contributed to the scoring parade. The clean-sheet was maintained by a defense anchored by a trio of senior captains: Abbie Rogowski, Emily Ortiz and goalkeeper Audrey Hinrichs. The Friars take the pitch twice more this week for nonconference, road matches. They head to Oak Park and River Forest at 6 p.m. Wednesday to face the crosstown Huskies and then will meet Nazareth at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Nonconference
Naperville North 4, St. Charles East 1
The no. 12 Fighting Saints couldn't keep fourth-ranked visitor Naperville North (3-0-0) at bay. St. Charles East's Libby Thomas cut into a 3-0 halftime deficit with an unassisted second half goal, but that was all the offense the Saints (2-1-0) could muster.
Warren 2, Lakes 0
The host Blue Devils used first half trade-off goals/assists from Emma Paraskos (Ella Skelton) and Skelton (Paraskos) for the win. Keeper Trish Georgiou made one save in the shutout. Seventh-ranked Warren (1-0-1) will take a break before resuming game action in its North Suburban Conference opener against Waukegan on April 1.
