The no. 14 Blue Devils (2-3-0) fell despite 11 saves from goalkeeper Sarah Barbosa and finished 0-3-0 on their St. Louis-area spring break trip. Host Collinsville (3-1-1) was a motivated team after falling 4-0 to no. 24 Neuqua Valley in the Parkway College Showcase on Saturday. The loss dropped the Kahoks from the top spot of Chicagoland Soccer's Illinois 10 poll to no. 5. Warren resumes its season at 11th-ranked Carmel at 4:30 p.m. April 3.
Young 1, Myrtle Beach (SC) 1 (Young wins PKs 3-0)
The Dolphins won their third-straight game with the result in their spring break road trip opener. Sarah Heise opened the scoring for Young after an assist from Ayana Loyd. Myrtle Beach scored the equalizer with 8 minutes left to play. Dolphins' keeper Gaby Lukanus made a huge save with under a minute left in regulation to send the game to two 5-minute overtimes. In the shootout, Young's Heise, Jessica O’Donnell, and Carina Barillas converted their attempts. Lukanus continued her great play in the shootout by stuffing the first and third shooters. The Dolphins (3-3-0) will finish out their South Carolina trip versus St. James on Thursday in Murrells Inlet.
