Roundup for April 6
DuKane Conference
St. Charles East 1, Geneva 1
After the seventh-ranked Fighting Saints (10-2-2, 7-2-2) took the lead on a Sebastian Carranza goal assisted by Jake Maslowski, Geneva freshman Trent Giansanti tied it up before the break. Forty second half minutes couldn't break the tie. St. Charles East keeper Jake Boecher made four saves in the contest. Thirteenth-ranked Geneva now stands at 5-2-6, 4-2-5.
North Suburban Conference
Warren 3, Mundelein 1
A night after its 1-0 win over top-ranked New Trier, the no. 3 Blue Devils avoided a letdown with three first half goals. Ishaan Shah scored a brace in the first 10 minutes, and Max Floriani capped Warren's goal-scoring in the 18th minute. Alex Senko, Cael Harris and Sebastian Rodriguez contributed helpers for Warren (10-0-0, 5-0-0). "Thought the boys really came out and played well in the first half after a grueling game last night versus New Trier," said coach Jason Ahonen. "Short turnarounds are always difficult on the legs. Really like what I saw in the attack with us moving the ball quickly, finding open players and moving off the ball."
Metro Suburban Conference
Wheaton Academy 10, Chicago Christian 0
The no. 20 Warriors rolled behind braces from Robert Platt and Rian Bautista. Haetham Nasr and Corbin Bates added a goal and assist, and Evan Eckert had two assists. Caleb Mariotti, Kyle Howerda, Connor Royce (first varsity tally) and Kaiden Massie finished the scoring. Andrew Ramirez, Troy Erickson, Brayden Vandervelde and Scotty Murray produced helpers. Keepers Declan Finnegan (one save, 40 minutes) and Brandon Hoekstra (one, 20) shared the win and Wheaton Academy's sixth shutout of the season. The Warriors improved to 8-2-1, 6-1-0 with the victory and return to action when they host no. 4 Benet at noon Saturday.
