Hinsdale Central 1, Riverside-Brookfield 1 (HC wins PKs 4-3)
Hinsdale Central (9-8-3) switched senior goalies for the shootout with Sydney Pjesky taking over for Hanna Florence. Pjesky stopped the second and fifth attempts by 10th-seeded Riverside-Brookfield, which shot first. Sidney Turnbull converted the Red Devils’ fifth attempt to win the game. Carter Knotts, Hannah Pjesky and Peyton Rohn also made penalty kicks. Riverside-Brookfield (11-10-3) got successful shots from Hazel Hall, Carmen Guerrero and Nina Bretz. Goalie Reagan Peschke stopped the Red Devils’ third attempt to keep the score tied at 2. In regulation, Bretz put the Bulldogs ahead by scoring from the outside left with 35:52 left in the second half after continued pressure following a left-side corner kick. Hinsdale Central tied the game exactly five minutes later when Turnbull finished a great right-wing cross from Avery Edgewater. Hinsdale Central, the no. 5 seed in the Glenbard West Sectional, advances to meet fno. 4 Morton in the regional title match at 10 a.m. Saturday. Morton defeated Proviso West 8-0 Wednesday.

St. Charles East 8, West Chicago 0
The second-seeded and 20th-ranked Fighting Saints (17-4-2) built a 5-0 halftime to lock up the win. Grace Williams led the way with a brace and two assists, and Mia Raschke and Libby Thomas knocked in two goals apiece. Ella Stehman and Alli Saviano (assist) provided solo tallies. Tia Bernstein, Yazmin Martinez and Lexi DiOrio contributed helpers. Keepers Sofia Iori (40 minutes, 0 saves), Sidney Lazenby (15, 0) and Grace Stehman (15, 1) shared the win. St. Charles East meets seventh-seeded host Wheaton North (9-9-0) for the title at 5 p.m. Friday. The Falcons advanced to the championship match with a 4-0 win over South Elgin on Wednesday.
