Kendall Walch scored the game-winner midway through the second half on an assist by Emmie Roberts. Keeper Ava Callaway denied several shots down the stretch from Downers Grove North (11-9-2), which pushed forward for the equalizer. The shutout was the 11th on the season for Glenbard West (14-6-0), which meets top-seeded and top-ranked conference foe Lyons (20-1-0) for the sectional title at 6 p.m. Friday. The Lions won 2-1 at Glenbard West on May 10.
St. Charles East Sectional semifinal
St. Charles East 3, Batavia 0
The second-seeded and 20th-ranked Fighting Saints took the game with three, second half goals. Kara Machala (unassisted), Mia Raschke (Maddie Flanders) and Ella Stehman (Mackenzie Loomis) scored in succession. Keeper Sidney Lazenby made one save for the shoutout. St. Charles East (19-4-2) meets cross-town rival, top-seed and 12th-ranked St. Charles North (19-2-0) for the title at 5 p.m. Friday. The North Stars took the previous two meetings this season by 2-1 and 2-0 scores.
