Roundup for May 3
Mid-Suburban League
Hoffman Estates 3, Hersey 2
Goals from Norah Viers and Faith Sena, who tied the game at 2-2 in the second half, were not enough for the host Huskies (1-3-1, 1-2-0).
Nonconference
Deerfield 4, Round Lake 0
The host Warriors were on the front foot throughout a rainy evening and gave Round Lake its first loss of the season. After a series of chances went by the board in the first half, Riley Schimanski took a pass from Emily Fox, weaved around 3 defenders, and lofted a shot over the keeper from 25 yards at 31:28. Holly Deutsch fed Fox for her own long-range blast at 35:06. Immediate pressure at the start of the second half paid off when Avery Kingsepp found Deutsch, who bombed a shot from 30 yards that caught the keeper off her line at 40:46. Simone Criz closed out the scoring when she beat the keeper just under the crossbar from 18 yards at 47:15. Isa Davila and Gabi Sipe combined for the shutout for the Warriors (5-5-1).
Upstate Eight Conference
West Chicago 2, Larkin 2
Luciana Balzer's brace was highlighted by her 35-yard free kick with 30 seconds left that tied the game. The senior's first goal came on a PK for the Wildcats (1-1-2, 1-0-2).
