New Trier 3, Hersey 0
In a battle of two teams ranked in the Chicagoland Soccer Preseason Top 25, the Trevians prevailed on the opening day of the season behind senior forwards Ryan Krueger and Will Felitto. Krueger notched a goal and an assist, and Felitto netted one for no. 13 New Trier, which also benefitted from a Hersey own goal. Goalie Sam Rutherford made two saves to earn the shutout against the 18th-ranked Huskies.
Wheeling 3, Deerfield 1
Cory Johnson tied the game for Deerfield on a 25-yard strike with 6:36 left after a pass from Louis Solovy, but the Warriors (0-1-0) couldn't hold off their 11th-ranked visitors. Wheeling scored twice in the last four minutes on a scramble and a breakaway to gain the win. Junior Deerfield keeper Ryan Grady had a busy night with 15 saves.

The no. 14 Lions rolled to a season-opening win behind goals from Eric Gradilla, Tate Riordan, Adam MaGahay, Charlie Clarke and Joey Fitzgerald.

Despite outshooting their hosts 13-3, Marmion dropped its season-opener on a first half penalty kick.
