Edwin Rueda and Armondo Sanchez each had a goal and an assist to pace the Sabres (1-0). Aldo Lazaro and Donnie Sosa also scored and Alex Herrera added an assist. Daniel Dominguez made three saves to earn the shutout.

The Redhawks ran into a buzzsaw to start the season. Goalkeeper Joe Kallikaden did his part with 7 saves. Among the goals allowed were two penalty kicks and a 19-yard free kick.
