Miguel Garcia's hat-trick powered the Blue Devils, who were ranked 18th in the First 50 preseason poll, to the title of the four-team round-robin tournament. Lucas Ahonen provided three assists. Tyler Hughes drew the foul that led to Garcia's PK goal that gave Warren (3-0-0) a 2-0 halftime lead. Ethan Cole made four saves in 70 minutes of work in net. Prairie Ridge netted its only score on a PK in the 79th minute. "Hats off to Prairie Ridge for an unbelievable work rate, especially during the first half and start of the second half," said Warren coach Jason Ahonen. "They made it very difficult on us at times with their pressure. I am very happy for the boys this morning; Prairie Ridge beat us last year (in the tournament). As a team we as we continue to move in the right direction. A beautiful set piece got us on the scoreboard. ... I really appreciate how the boys stuck to the game plan and were patient."

The Wildcats were the only team in the tournament to end the opening round with a win. Noah Finnema scored a brace, and Felix Amyot also put his name in the scoring column. Mateo Portillo and Jake Berlowski chimed in with assists. Keeper Ben Gradiotor made five saves for 21st-ranked Libertyville.

Dayton DiTomasso and Luca Davies each had a goal and assist for the Red Devils (2-0-1), who knocked off the no. 3 team in the United Soccer Coaches National Preseason Poll. Davies has scored in every match so far for Hinsdale Central. "We are always looking to play the best teams led by terrific coaches, and we think we brought in great competition (which included Barrington and Timothy) on the weekend. Marquette was well organized and forced us to really stay disciplined all over the field. We have tremendous respect for every team we play, and Marquette is no different. ... We knew we would get chances, and I am so proud of how the boys responded."

The co-host and 14th-ranked Fighting Saints took control with three first half goals the SCE pool. Mason Brockmeyer scored twice, and Aiden Wostle added a tally. Aiden Maloney, Marc Walker and Giuseppe Avendano guided assists. Keepers Jordon Rolon (40 minutes/0 saves) and Ivan Campobasso (13 minutes/1) produced scoreless stings in goal for St Charles East (3-0-0).

Ethan Diem headed home a corner from Xavier Marquez to give South Elgin a 1-0 halftime lead, but the Storm settled for the draw. Keeper Aaron Cacucciolo contributed three saves.
