The Redwings, ranked fourth in First 50 state-wide preseason poll, continued the league dominance they displayed in the spring. T.J. McVey delivered a hat-trick and assist, and Daniel Pepping added a score and assist. Andy Nash, Caden Schulz and Sam Barbeau also found the back of the net for Benet. Helpers came from Nico Picha (2), Brendan Forsythe, Collin McGuinn and Jared Plummer. Keepers Evan Lucas and Drew Knapp combined for the shutout. Benet (1-1-0) next meets Geneva in its Best of the West tournament opener at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Naperville North.

Eagan Reams recorded a brace, Jorge Leon collected a goal and an assist, and Aiden Tomlinson notched a helper in the championship match. In the semifinal, Leon had the brace, and Reams had two assists. Tomlinson added a goal, and Leo Rocha chipped in with an assist.

South Elgin 2, Wheaton North 2
Wheaton North left the match a draw after a goal with under 10 minutes left. South Elgin received goals from Chris Coria, directly from a corner, and a Peter Tulumbuta header after Ryan Doherty's corner. Goalkeepers Aaron Cacucciolo-Forbes and Luke Bondi split the game and each made two saves and allowed one goal for the Storm (0-0-2), who host Hoffman Estates at 4:30 Monday in the tourney's third round.
10th annual Joe Novy Classic at Addison Trail
Glenbard North 6, Proviso West 0
Carlos Villagrana gave the Panthers the lead at the break with his first goal of the season before his teammates exploded for five tallies in the first 20 minutes of the second half. Cristian Escobedo recorded a brace, and Azael Velasquez, Jorge Roman and Steve Gospodinov contributed single tallies. Stavros Veremis earned his first shutout of the season in a game that was called after 65 minutes due to the heat. Glenbard North (1-1-1 overall) will play Addison Trail in the final game of Pool 1 play on Tuesday.

The Warriors (0-1-1) fell behind 2-0 in the 11th minute. Wheaton Academy grew into the game and equalized in the second half on goals from Kaiden Massie (42nd minute, Joshua Mariotti assist) and Caleb Mariotti (60th, Luke Poland), before Maine South netted the final goal in the 77th minute. The ninth-ranked Warriors return to action in their second round pool match against tourney co-host and third-ranked St. Charles East at 5 p.m. Monday

In a tough game that saw both teams produce some chances, Josh Weigel got the job done for the no. 13 Redhawks after an assist from Sean O’Reilly. Patrick Berryman played a key role with a victory-saving clear off the goal line. Austin Waite and Dean Scott split the shutout.
