The Gators, ranked 25th in the Chicagoland Soccer Top 25, scored twice in each half of the win. Tomasz Slawek paced the victors with a brace after the break and an assist before it. Sam Bahnfleth and Nolan Getzinger added goals, and Michal Dejworek fashioned a helper in the tourney-opening win for Crystal Lake South (3-0-0). Zion-Benton fell to 3-1-0.

The Sabres suffered their first loss of the season in the tournament's second round. A first half goal from A.J. Sabanovic off a Hugo Marquez assist was all the offense Streamwood (1-1-1) could muster.

Benet 4, Geneva 2
The no. 8 Redwings improved to 2-1-0. John Kolb put the first on the board for Benet in the 39th minute and assisted Nico Picha in the 40th. After halftime T.J. McVey added a brace. Brendan Forsythe had a pair of assists, and Alex Blacha added one. "It was a hard-fought win, starting with our offense and ending with a great defensive stand," said Kolb. "Evan Lucas made some amazing saves for us late in the game, and overall it was a total team effort." Lucas made seven saves in win. The Redwings now look forward to the second round Thursday against Oswego at 7 p.m. at Naperville North.

The Huskies (1-1-1), ranked fourth, prevailed behind a brace from Cam Radeke. Caden Hill contributed a goal and assist, and Alex Barger and Ryan Konrad provided helpers. Patrick Horn recorded the clean-sheet.

Libertyville 2, Grayslake Central 0
After a scoreless first half, the seventh-ranked Wildcats took control behind goals from Cole Danner (Jon Melcher assist) and Alek LaRoi. Keeper Micheal Krokonas made five saves for the shutout.

Warren 2, Highland Park 0
The 19th-ranked Blue Devils asserted themselves in the fourth minute after Ryan Stanciak's tally from a Matt Hegge assist. Cael Harris collected the insurance goal in the 50th minute with help from Lucas Ahonen. Justin Uribe made four saves for Warren (3-1-0). "We were able to get off to a great start tonight scoring in the fourth minute but then struggled in the middle third of the field due to Highland Park’s effort," said coach Jason Ahonen. "It was nice to get one midway through the second half in order to seal the win."
