Luca Avendano and Tyler Filbert scored the first two tallies, and Alex Mancera and Sam Wade contributed assists in the league opener for both teams. Goalkeeper Jack Settle made nine saves for the clean-sheet for St. Charles East (7-1-0, 1-0-0). Glenbard North fell to 4-3-0, 0-1-0.

Allen Rodriguez's 89th-minute minute goal, his first of the season, was the difference in the away-game triumph. Logan Finnegan produced the helper. Wheaton Academy meets Wheaton Warrenville South in its first game of the PepsiCo Showdown at 4:15 p.m. Saturday at the Inwood Soccer Complex in Joliet.

Highland Park's Ronin Moore broke up the shutout with a penalty kick in the 75th minute. Glenbrook South improved to 4-1-2 with the win.
