South Division
Marmion Academy 4, Mount Carmel 1

Marmion continues its head first dive into its new conference's South Division with games at Providence (4:30 p.m., Tuesday) and St. Laurence (6 p.m., Thursday). The Cadets take the weekend off before opening the St. Charles East tournament Sept. 22.
West Suburban Conference
Silver Division
Hinsdale Central 1, Downers Grove North 0
A William McGowen off a Nicholas Silva helper in the 47th minute gave the host Red Devils all the scoring they needed in a 1-0 win over Downers Grove North.
Wes Bergevin needed to make only 1 save for the shutout.
Hinsdale Central improved to 6-3-1 overal and 2-0 in the West Suburban Silver.
“At this point in the season, we want to be sure we are creating scoring opportunities and defending well," said coach Mike Wiggins. "I think we are doing that at a level that shows progress, and every single one of our guys is getting better. I see the guys coming together as a group, and it is going to take a strong unit to be prepped for a run at the end of the year. This group is getting stronger every day and our win today over DGN is proof of that.”
