Normal West 4, St. Charles East 3
A brace from Truitt Battin and single goal from Gray Biddle was not enough for St. Charles East against the ninth-ranked team in the Chicagoland Soccer Illinois 10 poll, which scored on four of its six shots on goal. Carranza and Alex Mancera doled out assists for the Saints.
Nonconference
Crystal Lake South 1, Buffalo Grove 1
Ryan Coughlin's unassisted goal in the 51st minute gave the visiting and 15th-ranked Gators (11-2-3) the draw. Seventeenth-ranked Buffalo Grove has a 11-4-3 mark.
Mundelein 2 Grayslake Central 1
The Rams (3-12-2) dropped a tough one on the road despite a tying PK goal from Owen Aaberg after Dani Orozco drew a foul in the box halfway into the second half. Alexis Garcia Perez stopped six shots for Grayslake Central.
"Credit to Mundelein for pressing us quickly and outworking us for the bulk of the match," coach Thomas Hamilton said. "We came out with energy for the first and last 10 minutes and created some decent chances, but we paid for a couple bad mistakes.
"When we applied immediate pressure and switched the point of attack at speed we looked good. We're putting more shots on frame recently, but we know it has to be 80 minutes, especially when you play these strong 3A teams."
Prospect 3, Glenbrook South 2
The Knights fought back from two deficits to post an upset win over the 23rd-ranked team in the Chicagoland Soccer Top 25. Chris Rubio's 15th-minute goal led to a 1-1 tie at the break. Michael Kaczowka's brace from 45th- and 51st-minute goals made the difference. Justin Leszynski and Tengis Purevrentsen scored for Glenbrook South (9-3-5).
Wheaton North 2, Downers Grove North 0
First half goals from Alex Beausoleil (Joe Gaither assist) and Jack Morrissey (Erik Rozanski) powered the Falcons to the win.
