Keeper Brandon Gorka made two saves in the shootout after a second half goal from Alex Canfield, assisted by Marcin Sliwinski, drew the 10th-seeded Gators even in the upset over seventh-seeded Metea Valley. Jack Wruck, Ryan Coughlin, Nick Langdon, and Canfield converted their PKs. Gorka made one save in the run of play to earn the shutout. Crystal Lake South, ranked 24th in the Chicagoland Soccer Top 25, improved to 6-2-1 on the year and will face no. 2 seed St. Charles North on Tuesday in quarterfinals. Metea Valley dropped to 3-3-1 on the year.

Bernard Elegbede scored twice to lead the North Stars to the opening round win in the 16-team bracket. Peter Willis added a goal and Jake Persenico, Josh Amaro and Mitchell Bricker contributed assists. Piercarlo Ricossa made four saves for the shutout for second-seeded St. Charles North (5-1-2).
Streamwood 2, Lyons 1
The Sabres pulled off the upset of the opening round when they knocked off third-seeded, and seventh-ranked Lyons. First half goals from Alex Herrera (Gregorio Esteves) and Aldo Lazaro (Jorge Bracamontes) gave Streamwood (7-2-0) the insurmountable lead. Goalkeeper Daniel Dominguez made three saves and only surrendered a 75th-minute PK. Streamwood meets fellow upset winner Soto, a no. 11 seeded winner over no. 6 seed and 23rd-ranked Lake Park, on Tuesday.
Wheaton Academy 2, Lane 2 (WA wins PKs 4-3)
The Warriors advanced on the strength of two shootout saves from keeper J.D. Gunn. Wheaton Academy (6-2-0) got its regulation goals from Jon Austriaco (Grayson Harris) and Luke Holwerda (Seamus Kilgallon). The fifth-seed will meet fourth-seeded and sixth-ranked Waukegan on Tuesday.
Woodside (Wis.) Tournament
Neuqua Valley 5, Bay Port (Wis.) 2
The Wildcats went 2 for 2 at the tournament with the win. Dan Laverde scored twice, and Billy Heniades had a goal and an assist for the winners. T.J. Fenton and Matt Miller added goals, and Parker Domschke contributed a helper. Goalkeeper Dylan Soto made four saves in a scoreless half for the Wildcats.

The Mid-Suburban League club bested its North Suburban Conference guest to extend its winning streak to three games. Manny Mazariegos scored unassisted, and Kyle Adams tallied with the help of Michael Botello for the Bison (6-4-0).

The Fighting Saints battled back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to earn a draw on the road. Sam Wade, assisted by Luke Schnitker, notched the equalizer. Second half goalkeeper kept the Hawks off the scoreboard. for St. Charles East (2-4-3).
